Four Ford recalls headline the day, led by an F-150 fuel tank that may leak or detach while driving
Good morning. The most serious item is NHTSA campaign 26V-578. Ford is recalling certain 2023–2027 F-150 vehicles because the fuel tank may be improperly secured and can leak fuel or detach from the vehicle while driving. NHTSA lists the covered model as Raptor, 2023–2027. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel tank straps as necessary, free of charge, and owner letters were expected to mail September 21, 2026. This is not a stop-ride order, but a fuel leak or a tank coming loose is not something to sit on. Owners can reach Ford at 1-866-436-7332; Ford's internal number is 26S69, and VINs became searchable at NHTSA.gov beginning September 14, 2026.
Three more Ford campaigns landed the same day. Campaign 26V-576 covers certain 2026 F-150 vehicles (NHTSA lists Raptor, 2026) where incorrect rear axle tail bearings may have been installed, which can cause rear wheel lock-up or driveshaft separation; dealers replace the bearing free of charge, Ford's number is 26S63, letters expected September 21. Campaign 26V-577 covers certain 2026 F-150 vehicles (NHTSA lists Raptor, 2026) where rear stabilizer rod fasteners may not have been tightened properly, letting the rod shift out of position; dealers replace the fasteners free of charge, Ford's number is 26S66. If you do any fastener work yourself, do not guess a torque figure — that value lives in the service manual, and an under- or over-torqued suspension fastener is exactly the failure this recall is about.
For Bronco owners, campaign 26V-580 covers certain 2026 Broncos (NHTSA lists U725, 2026): a metal burr on the right-hand side curtain air bag mounting bracket can tear the bag during deployment. Interim letters were expected September 15, with the remedy anticipated in October 2026. Ford's number is 26S64. All four campaigns route through Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and NHTSA.gov.

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2026 F-150 vehicles. Incorrect rear axle tail bearings may have been installed, which can result in rear wheel lock-up or driveshaft separation.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the rear axle tail bearing, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S63. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 14, 2026.
